The girls increased their knowledge and understanding in a range of areas including; body confidence and self-esteem and challenge unrealistic beauty ideals and healthy relationships. In addition, the participants were awarded two AQA Units Certificates.
The Step Back in Time project
The project enabled young people to learn about the history of Chadderton over the past 100 years, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
As part of the project, the young people wanted to host a tea party and invite elderly Chadderton residents. We hosted the tea party on 13th April 2015, which was a huge success, we had 43 elderly residents attend; the young people served tea and cake and participated in the game of Bingo and the young people were the team captains on the quizzes.
Coalshaw Green Skatepark
Fullcircle nw CIC and Oldham Council worked in partnership to identify funding to upgrade and improve the skatepark facility. Fullcircle successfully bid for £107,384 from Viridor Credits Environmental Company.
Fullcircle involved the young people in the process to ensure project met their needs, and the young people choose the contractors and worked with ‘Freestyle’ to design the new facility. The skatepark was officially launched in March 2015.
'In the Know' Project
Fullcircle nw CIC secured funding from the Oldham Community Safety and Cohesion Partnership to deliver a 12-month project to promote healthy relationships, and support young people affected by domestic violence and abuse and prevent them from becoming involved in violence themselves.
We developed an accredited educational programme designed to help to reduce incidents of violence by building capacity and resilience with young people, whilst participating in the programme the young people worked towards achieving two AQA Awards.
Sholver Youth Club: Singing Project
A small group of young people worked with a music coach Tosin (Z-arts) for 6 weeks, during this time they developed their singing skills. Fullcircle invited the young people’s family and friends and members of the community to come along to watch them at a performance evening. We filmed the performance and each young person received a copy as a memento.
To celebrate the individual achievements, Fullcircle arranged to take the young people to a music recording studio, so they could learn the basics and to record their songs.
